Jason Davis '97 is the director of publication and design at Western after leaving his position as senior art director for Ethan Allen. He continues to freelance, including work on the Ethan Allen website. 

Jason and his department are responsible for all university publications such as the course catalogues and the annual report, as well as brochures for all departments and the new ID cards.  He is now working on a new look for the university and hopes to be fully implemented by the fall. 

Jason is married to Amy Tworek, a 1999 Western graduate.

David Decker '97 is the Art Director of Higher One, Inc. Gregg Domain '97 did some feature film visual effects work for CafeFX on Flight of the
Phoenix and Sin City in 2004. He is back out to California working for a studio called Digital Domain and says, "With a name like that, how could I NOT work there....haha"  Gregg added, "It's contract work...staff positions with any studio are like finding gold in a riverbed...but I'm hoping it will lead to some more opportunities once this finishes up."

Denise Giordano '97 has her own business studio, WINN Graphics, Inc..  She designs the visual printed piece as worked out with her client and brokers it out for the best price for her client.

Harry Hara '97 is a graphic designer at Alliance. He designs and produces manufacturing displays. He does the structural work as well as the design. He can be reached at HHara@rocktenn.com.
Jennifer (Metcalf) Heffernan '97 is a stay at home mom in Bristol. Vermont. She enjoys the Green Mountains in her back yard and works part-time from her home.

After graduating from WestConn with her BA in art, Jennifer continued her education to obtain an elementary education certificate.  She now works for a dentist doing computer work from home, does some substitute teaching and is a "Stampin Up" demonstrator.  Stampin Up is a multi-level direct sales company that sells rubber stamps and the accessories needed to create projects using rubber stamps.  She can make greeting cards and wrapping paper, as well as decorate homes or create a beautiful scrapbook with the tools she sells. Her website can be viewed at www.greenmountainstamper.stampinup.net.

Stephanie (Palmieri) Magriz '97 is currently working as a Senior Graphic Designer for Pharmedica Communications in Killingworth, Connecticut.  Pharmedica offers marketing and communications for health care companies particularly pharmaceutical companies such as Pfizer and Bayer. Kelly Rothen '97 is an Art Director for QSP Inc., a subsidiary of Reader’s Digest Association, Inc. The company runs fundraising program for schools and organizations. She oversees the small in-house art department and outside creative help. We design many catalogs and assorted marketing pieces.

In addition, Kelly does freelance work and has started her own jewelry business. She hand-sculpts and paints clay pendants and beads and accents them with semi-precious stones and sterling silver findings. She will be setting up a website in the near future.

Alex Schork '97 worked as a freelance graphic designer before escaping into web development. After squandering his dot-com millions day trading Beanie Baby futures and Spice Girls memorabilia, Alex has again been ensnarled by graphic design.

Eric Smith '97 paints large and small celestial and psychedelic paintings of landscapes and abstract worlds and places. Eric sells his work on a few different levels; the larger and most complex are exhibited or seen by appointment at the Wallingford Art Center, a new Gallery/artist co-operative that also promotes community participation in The Arts www.wallingfordartcenter.com Eric's smaller work is sold at several unique consignment stores; MTB Candles and New England Treasures.

His most exciting endeavor is the small business he's recently started called "Psychedelic Creations", which promotes local artists by rotating their work from location to location. A "location" is simply a restaurant, bank, hotel, cafe or place of any kind that volunteers their lobbies or space, these places . Solo and group shows are rotated from place to place by Psychedelic Creations at no cost or work for the artist, although a small agreed upon commission is retained when something sells. John Apinis '98 runs the ad department at The Journal News, a Gannett Publication in White Plains, New York.  He does graphic design and publishing for news print, glossies and bill boards.

Heidi (Furse) Barrett '98 is the Art Director at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. For the past few years Heidi was been working on exhibit design for the economic education section of the Bank.  Her recent works include the redesign of the Bank's public web site, the
2004 annual report and a new corporate identity.

She is currently enrolled in a Master's program at Savannah College of Art
and Design.

Karin (Tyrian) Miller '98 is married, with one son.  She left Lake Group Media, Inc. after 8 years, to join MeritDirect as Director of Marketing & Promotions and loving every moment of it.

She is still working within the Direct Marketing Industry, although at one of the leading companies now. Together with her team, they implement print and interactive creative through completion for major companies such as BusinessWeek, CFO, Advanstar, Penton and many more.

Mariann Szucs '98 was born and raised in Hungary, Europe until the age of 19. She decided to gain some real life experience, meet new people and travel overseas. For three years she was taking art classes such as pottery and printmaking and also worked on my English language skills. By 1995 I settled down in Connecticut and enrolled in the arts program at WCSU.  She graduated in 1998 with Magna Cum Laude with a Photography Art degree and ready to tackle the photography world.

She started working in one hour photo stores and worked my way up to manager and photographer positions. In 2001 she moved to New York City and started working as a freelance photographer photographing children and families, weddings and models.  She continued to take classes to learn new methods and techniques such as Polaroid Transfer.

She loves working as a photographer and record images of people who trust her knowledge and vision to show them the way I see them through my camera lens.
