Drawing I, Sculpture I/II
Jilaine Jones is an artist based in New Haven, CT. She is currently exhibiting in “Contemporary Sculpture at Chesterwood” (2013) and will be represented in the 2013 deCordova Museum Biennial . Her work has been reviewed in many publications, including The Brooklyn Rail, The New York Observer, The New York Times, and Ajuntament de Barcelona. Selected exhibitions include: “Intersections,” Sculptors Guild, Governors Island, NY (2011); a solo exhibition at New York Studio School, NY (2008); “Recent Modernist Sculpture,” Locks Gallery, Philadelphia, PA (2005); “The Continuous Mark, Four Decades,” New York Studio School, NY (2005); a solo exhibition at Salander-O’Reilly Galleries, New York, NY (2001); and “Art Triangle Barcelona,” Museum of Contemporary Art, Barcelona, Spain (1987). Jones has received numerous awards, including the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Fellowship in 2012, and the Fellowship Recipient for Sculpture by the Connecticut Commission on the Arts in 1997. In 1987 she was selected by Sir Anthony Caro as an international participant in the Triangle Artist’s Workshop at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona, Spain. Jones completed her education at the New York State College of Ceramics (1978-79), the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA (1979-83), and the New York Studio School (1997-99).
