Fritz Horstman

Visiting Artist Lecture

Fritz Horstman is a Connecticut artist working in multiple forms. He has shown his sculptures, drawings, photographs and videos in more than 70 exhibitions in the US, Europe and Asia. Since 2001, he has also worked as a freelance illustrator for Short’s Brewing Company and many private clients. His most recent commission is a 14 x 8 foot stainless steel sculpture “Between the Trees”, installed this summer in As, Norway. Later this fall he will begin an artist-in residency at the Bauhaus Dessau in Germany.

Horstman received his BA in Studio Art from Kenyon College and his MFA from MICA (Maryland Institute College of Art). Since 2004, he has worked with the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation in Bethany, CT, where he is Coordinator of the Artist Residency and Education program. He has developed and presented workshops and lectures for many institutions including MoMA, Dia: Beacon, The Drawing Center, Yale University, Princeton University, the Bauhaus Dessau, Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, and the Lebanese American University in Beirut. An artist, teacher, and a musician, he also serves as a curatorial board member at the Ely Center of Contemporary Art.
