Mission Statement
The American Democracy Project at Western Connecticut State University (WCSU) is a campus initiative stimulated by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) and its ongoing collaboration with over two-hundred colleges and universities who share an abiding interest in promoting active and engaged citizenship amongst its students and the university community. The purpose of this project is to generate a creative, innovative, ethical and constructive approach to civic engagement that is perpetually girded by solid intellectual and experientially-based reasoning and contributes to the public good. The primary “goal of the project is to produce graduate who understand and are committed to engaging meaningful actions as citizens in our democracy”.
