Birte Pfitzner ’96, ’11

Birte Pfitzner ’96, ’11 grew up in Germany and came to America as an Au-pair in 1991. She started at Western Connecticut State University in 1993 as an international student and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in English. After four-and a half years as Administrative Assistant / Technical Coordinator with the German company TUV Rheinland of N.A., Inc. in Newtown, and a short time at home with her two children, Birte returned to WCSU in 2002. She worked in various secretarial positions across the university and in 2006 started working for the Dean of Students. Her current position is CSU Administrative Assistant to the Vice President for Student Affairs. While working at the university, Birte earned her Master’s of English (Writing).

Birte enjoys working with students and doing what she can to ensure that each student has the best experience possible at the university. Since 2006, she has been one of the events coordinators and chair of the committee for the Student Leadership Recognition Banquet. Birte has attended many WCSU plays, musicals, and operas, been a team leader at each of the WCSU Day of Service events, and otherwise been actively engaged attending events and promoting the university.

In her free time, Birte enjoys writing fantasy novels, painting, photography, genealogy research, going to musicals/plays, and traveling. She returns to Germany every two years to see her family and explore more of Europe. She lives in New Milford with her son and daughter who are currently away at college in Massachusetts, at Wheaton College and Northeastern University.
