E-Learning (Blackboard Learn)
Blackboard Learn is WestConn's course management system that allows faculty to supplement their on-ground course with online components. It provides a state-of-the-art teaching and learning environment that streamlines course management for faculty, offers capabilities to help improve student outcomes, and creates powerful efficiencies institution-wide. Blackboard Learn is a leading provider of e-Learning solutions for higher education. [further overview]
Faculty and staff can receive a WestConn Email account by calling the IT Help Desk at (203) 837-8467. Workshops are available to learn how to use WestConn Email. After attending a workshop, the WestConn Email client is then installed on your computer. Adjuncts that teach only at night can get access to WestConn Email through the Web and will be given a reference guide for using it. [further overview]
WestConnduit is the university portal. It provides access to campus and personal announcements, the campus events calendar, and essential information about your courses and students. In addition, it provides access to Blackboard Learn and convenient links to other university resources.
WestConn Windows Account
A WestConn Windows Account is necessary for students, faculty, and staff to access the University’s network from the computer centers, classrooms, labs, offices, residence halls, and wireless network. If you do not have a WestConn Windows Account, please call the IT Help Desk at (203) 837-8467 to obtain one. [further overview]
Computers on Campus
University Computing provides general computing facilities on both of WestConn's campuses at no charge to the members of the university community. 100% of WestConn's classrooms that are suited for it are equipped with instructional technology. [further overview]
Network Drives (File Shares)
Information Technology & Innovation offers network file storage for all current WestConn students, faculty, and staff to save their documents and data. When your WestConn Windows Account was created, your fileshare was automatically generated. [further overview]
Remote Access allows students, faculty, and staff to connect to authorized network drives. [further overview]
Telephone / Voice Communications
Voice Telecommunications services are provided collaboratively by Connecticut State University System Office (CSUSO) and WestConn Information Technology & Innovation Personnel. All requests for telecommunications service (new service, changes to service or equipment, moves, disconnects, name changes, etc) are initiated via the Telecommunications Service Request Form (TSR). TSRs must be reviewed and approved by your department head prior to submission. [further overview]
Wireless at WestConn
Many areas of both campuses are wireless hotspots for your laptop or other portable device: the Haas Library, New Science Building, Student Center, Westside Campus Center, Centennial Hall, and Westside Classroom Building. Many more locations are planned for the future, so check the list of hotspot locations often for updates. [further overview]
Hardware & Software
The Information Security site provides information about security and tools that are needed to secure and guard your computer against known security threats. [further overview]

Instructional Technology Services
A collaborative effort of Academic Affairs and Information Technology & Innovation. Now faculty have a designated area (Haas 416) to get assistance with integrating technology into their curriculum. Information Technology & Innovation, Media Services, and the Library have partnered to create time, technology, and expert assistance.
