2013-14 Per Semester Costs


Financial AidThe room rates that are reflected below are those which have been approved for the 2013-14 year. They are subject to change without notice. They do not indicate that each type of space is available. All assignments to specific room types are made at the sole discretion of the Housing & Residence Life office. Costs each year are determined by the Board of Regents, and generally increase 6-7% each year.

  • Housing Deposit - $250.00 per year.  Students are contracted for the entire year, and must apply if they need to request to be released from their contract for any reason prior to the end of the contract period (academic year).  The year long contract does not include the Intersession Break period, when housing is available at an additional cost and by application only in specified residence halls. 
  • Due dates for returning students are March 31st for the following fall semester.
  • New students’ deposits (to guarantee a space on campus) are due by May 1st for the following fall semester.
  • Housing deposits are non-refundable.

*  Fairfield residents are required to have the Platinum meal plan.  Litchfield and Newbury students are assigned the Ultimate plan, but may opt to switch to the Platinum plan.  The total cost listed here is figured with the Ultimate plan cost.

Meal Plans

Ultimate Dining Meal
Plan
Students living in Litchfield or Newbury have the Ultimate Dining PlanUltimate Dining gives unlimited access during the hours of operation at the Midtown Marketplace, 5 guest passes, and $150 in Flex Points per semester.  (Ultimate Diners may use the One Swipe exchange at the Westside marketplace, but may only swipe once during a "meal period". )

Platinum Meal
Plan
Students living in Centennial and Fairfield are assigned the Platinum Meal Plan.  The Platinum Plan gives diners 10 meals per week, as well as $550 flex points and 5 guest passes each semester.  Students on the Platinum Plan may opt to up-grade to the Ultimate meal plan if desired, but may not opt down to the Gold or Blue plans.  Students living in Grasso and Pinney may also upgrade to the Platinum Plan if desired.

The Gold Plan gives 7 meals per week during the hours of operation at the Midtown and Westside Marketplaces, plus $530 in Flex Points per semester.  Students in Pinney and Grasso, as well as commuters, faculty, and staff, can opt to purchase the Gold Plan.

Plan
Students living in Grasso and Pinney are required to have the Blue Plan.  On this plan, students have any 75 meals during the hours of operation at the Midtown and Westside Marketplaces, plus $230 in Flex Points per semester.  Again, commuters, faculty, and staff can opt to purchase the Blue Plan.

Withdrawal and Cancellation Information

Students who no longer wish to live in University housing are required to fill out a Housing Withdrawal Form, which can be downloaded from this site or can be filled out in person in the Newbury Hall Housing & Residence Life Office. If you are also withdrawing from the University, this paperwork must be filled out in addition to your formal University withdrawal paperwork.

Board of Regents Withdrawal Policies

Students who withdraw from the university

  • Upon withdrawal from the University up to and including the first day of university-wide classes as defined by the published university calendar, 100% of the balance paid less the housing deposit will be refunded.

  • 60% of the balance will be refunded during the first two weeks of university-wide classes.

  • 40% of the balance during the third and fourth weeks of university-wide classes.

  • No refund after the fourth week of university-wide classes.

Students who remain enrolled but withdraw from university housing

  • Upon withdrawal from a residence hall up to and including the first day of university-wide classes as defined by the published university calendar, 100% of the balance paid less the housing deposit and the housing cancellation fee, if applicable, will be refunded.

  • No refunds will be made after the beginning of university-wide classes.

Students who remain enrolled, but withdraw from university housing

  • Upon withdrawal from a university residence hall 15 – 28 days prior to and including the first day of university-wide classes as defined by the published university calendar, a 10% housing cancellation fee based upon the housing fee after deducting the housing deposit will be assessed.
  • Upon withdrawal from a residence hall 1 – 14 days prior to and including the first day of university-wide classes, a 20% housing cancellation fee based upon the housing fee after deducting the housing deposit will be assessed.

 

Food Service Fee

Meal plans are refundable, on a prorated basis, upon withdrawal from university housing or the University.
