Undergraduate Majors

Business Majors (B.B.A.)

The five business majors lead to a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree: Accounting, Finance, Management, Management Information Systems, and Marketing. BBA programs include four components: General Education (45 semester hours), Business Core (33 hours), Major (21-33 hours), and Electives (11-23 hours) for a total of 122 hours.

Accounting

The Accounting curriculum provides for a professional understanding of the concepts and methods of accounting, quantitative methods, production distribution, and finance; and a study of organization theory, including interpersonal relationships, control, and motivation. The two options available in Accounting are Financial Accounting and Managerial Accounting

Finance

The Finance curriculum offers students an opportunity to analyze financial problems, learn the tools of financial decision-making and their assumptions, and utilize a sound methodology in the resolution of the problems confronting business, industry, and non-profit organizations today. The two options available in Finance are Financial Management and Financial Investments and Markets.

Management

The Management Department curriculum is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and perspectives necessary in managerial and administrative positions in a variety of organizations, both private and not-for-profit. Management offers three options: Small Business & Entrepreneurial Management, Human Resource Management, and Supervisory Management.

Management Information Systems

The Management Information Systems (MIS) Department curriculum is designed to educate students in the use and importance of information as an essential and valuable resource in business decision-making processes for all organizations; to develop the critical analytical, quantitative, and computer skills necessary to address complex business problems; and to prepare MIS majors for responsible roles in the public and private sectors.

Marketing

The Marketing curriculum provides students with a sound understanding of the marketing function and its critical role in the success of organizations in globally competitive environments. Students learn analytical and communicative skills needed to succeed in brand management, marketing research, advertising management, and other marketing fields. Skills and techniques of marketing management are also stressed. The program builds on knowledge from the arts and sciences and other business courses. Students are exposed to a variety of teaching methods including computer applications, case studies, group projects, and experiential exercises.

Justice and Law Administration (B.S.)

The Division of Justice and Law Administration (JLA), a unit of the Ancell School of Business, has offered an acclaimed Bachelor of Science (BS) degree since 1976.

Justice and Law Administration

The JLA Division offers the degree of Bachelor of Science in Justice and Law Administration and also offers a Paralegal program. With options in legal studies, paralegal studies, law enforcement, corrections, and criminology, the JLA program has over 350 majors and teaches over 2,000 students per year.
