Since its founding in 1903, Western Connecticut State University has grown from a normal school to a teacher’s college to the multi-faceted university it is today.

Throughout our history, Western has planted roots that have grown and flowered into new academic programs and capital improvements to our campus. This tradition of growth inspires our students to plant roots too — rare is a student who doesn’t go on to contribute in some way to the region.

American businessman James Cash Penney, the founder of the store that bears his name, once observed that “growth is never by mere chance; it is the result of forces working together.”

There’s no better example of the truth of Penney’s words than at Western — where an entire community joins together to help students grow to reach their fullest potential.

Please note as well that this is the fourth year we have produced the annual report solely as an electronic document. Doing so saves money that we would have spent on paper, printing and postage. Moreover, an online publication allows us to give you information in many formats — in addition to print and photo we also provide links to other electronic sources. The only way to get a more comprehensive, up-close picture of WCSU today is to enroll here.
