New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) Re-accreditation and Self-Study
WestConn NEASC Self-Study Draft : April 15, 2013
Every ten years, we are assessed for reaccreditation by the New England Association for Schools and Colleges (NEASC). Our last review, in 2003, was very successful and identified some areas for the university to further address.
We are now embarking on the process to achieve reaccreditation, which will culminate in the fall of 2013. NEASC provides eleven standards that set goals toward which we are expected to strive. These standards guide preparation of a Self-Study document, which will describe how well we meet the standards in addition to identifying specific areas for future improvement.
A Steering Committee was established in May 2011 to manage our reaccreditation effort, develop a plan and timeline to complete the Self-Study and insure the process is both transparent and inclusive.
The data gathering, analysis and draft of each standard will be carried out by Standards Chairpersons and members. The drafts will receive feedback from the Steering Committee and campus community before they are finalized.
The Self-Study is formally submitted to NEASC before their Visiting Team comes to campus in Fall 2013. The Visiting Team then writes a comprehensive report, and finally NEASC makes the decision to reaccredit.
Look to this page for progress reports and upcoming forums at which faculty, staff and students will be able to comment on the Self-Study drafts .
