Designation of Gifts
Once you've decided what you want to give, you can have a say in how it's used. With an unrestricted gift, WestConn will use your donation where it's needed most. Or, you can designate that your restricted gift support a particular school, department, facility or program. If you'd like to create an endowed fund and provide a predictable income, you can create support for student scholarships, buildings, equipment, athletics, library services, supplies, programs or specific departments.
Dr. Mel Goldstein is a well-known television meteorologist who got his start in Connecticut at WestConn. Goldstein founded the first meteorology university weather center at WCSU and pushed for creation of Connecticut’s first Bachelor of Arts in Meteorology. Dozens of students are now enrolled in the program, and some will be helped by a scholarship created to honor Goldstein.
Dr. Mel is a treasure to this community, to WestConn and to the state of Connecticut. His many years in meteorology have made him a household name in Connecticut and beyond. Finding a way to appropriately say thank you is not easy, but we hope this scholarship conveys, in a small way, to Mel and his family the love, respect and admiration the university and the community at large have for him and his work.
