Housing Costs
2013-14 Per Semester Costs
The room rates that are reflected below are those which have been
approved for the 2013-14 year. They are subject to change without notice. They do not indicate that each type of space is available. All assignments to specific room types are made at the sole discretion of the Housing & Residence Life office. Costs each year are determined by the Board of
Regents, and generally increase
6-7% each year.
- Housing Deposit - $250.00 per year. Students are
contracted for the entire year, and must apply if they need to
request to be released from their contract for any reason prior
to the end of the contract period (academic year). The
year long contract does not include the Intersession Break
period, when housing is available at an additional cost and by
application only in specified residence halls.
- Due dates for returning students are March 31st
for the following fall semester.
- New students’ deposits (to guarantee a space on campus) are due by
May 1st for the following fall semester.
- Housing deposits are non-refundable.

Withdrawal and Cancellation Information
Students who no longer wish to live in University housing are required to fill out a Housing Withdrawal Form, which can be downloaded from this site or can be filled out in person in the Newbury Hall Housing & Residence Life Office. If you are also withdrawing from the University, this paperwork must be filled out in addition to your formal University withdrawal paperwork.
Board of Regents Withdrawal Policies
The Housing Deposit is a Non-Refundable deposit.
Upon withdrawal from the University, the housing refund will mirror the University refund policy for tuition and fees as such:
- 100% refund, less the housing deposit, for withdrawal up to and including the first day of University-wide classes as defined by the published university calendar.
- 90% of the balance, less the housing deposit, will be refunded during the first week of university-wide classes.
- 60% of the balance, less the housing deposit, will be refunded during the second week of university-wide classes.
- 40% of the balance, less the housing deposit, will be refunded during the third and fourth weeks of university-wide classes.
Upon withdrawal from University Housing but remaining enrolled:
- Up to and including May 31, 100% of the housing charges, less the housing deposit, will be removed from the student’s account.
- No refunds for students who withdraw from housing but remain enrolled on or after June 1 (academic year) or December 1 (spring term – for those students who plan to enter housing for the first time in spring), unless otherwise approved through the Housing Withdrawal policy.
Food Service Fee
Meal plans are refundable, on a prorated basis, upon withdrawal from university housing or the University.
